$devModBrk is the character used to separate a device MODULE name from the rest of a file name, if the file name contains an explicit device MODULE specification (see Section 22.11). Its value varies from operating system to operating system, but is usually '>'; consult the appropriate operating-system-dependent MAINSAIL user's guide.
